The film follows Paul, a soldier too young to be one who illegally signed up for the First World War. With a lot of blood, sweat, tears, little justice, and more blood the battle scenes are some of the most gruesome and long. Most of them held no interest for me as we’ve seen them before in almost every other war film that has come before.
The parts that interest me in this film are the display of the psychological consequences of war.
